Orientation is highly recommended for new and returning families

  • Make sure all necessary forms are completed and correct
  • Confirm information such as weeks attending camp, rank, pack, and bus information
  • Take the mandatory swim check
  • Tour the camp and meet the Camp Wheeler staff
  • Find out more about the Webelos Sleepover

Cubs and parents should plan to attend one evening (6/26, 7/1, or 7/8) orientation session prior to their first week of camp. Drop in to Camp Wheeler any time between 5:30 and 7:00 pm. Bring all of your completed forms, a swim suit, towel and non-aerosol bug repellent. Wear comfortable outdoor clothing and footwear. The first two orientation sessions are usually the most crowded.

Swim checks are mandatory every summer. Scouts are assigned to one of three ability groups based on the swim check: Blue fish (swimmer), red fish (beginner) or white fish (learner).

Here are directions to camp.

Orientation is highly recommended. It simplifies the process for both families and the camp staff.  If you cannot attend an orientation session, make sure all of the forms from the confirmation packet have been completely filled out, signed and are sent with your son on the first day of camp. Scouts who arrive without all completed forms will not be able to participate in activities until all the forms are in. If the swim check has not been completed, Scouts will be able to take it during their swim period on the first day of camp.

Orientation is held rain or shine.  Swim checks are weather permitting.
